Recs for chow-ish places along I-77?

We will be traveling on I-77 from West Virginia to South Carolina. Will be stopping for lunch and dinner along the way coming/going. Any recs for places not too far off the interstate? We prefer small Mom & Pop, home cooking places, not chain restaurants. Thanks!

Andy Griffith says get yourself a pork chop sandwich at Snappy Lunch in downtown Mt. Airy, NC.

OP said "not too far of the interstate" Isn't W-S about an hour from I-77?

Yeah, I was thinking of I-74 instead of I-77.

        Yes he does.

I saw on the news the other day that the owner died. However, the pock chop sanswiches are still being served.

You should post on the Mid Atlantic Board for WVA and VA. In NC, Keaton's is a great place near I-77 and I-40 for bbq chicken (fried and dipped in bbq sauce).
