Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen Grapefruit

Allstonian Jun 17, 2013 08:53 AM

Has anybody seen the Schöfferhofer Hefeweizen Grapefruit that they serve at Bronwyn for sale in a liquor store? I'd love to add some to my home bar fridge stock.

Pretty sure they had it at Albert's Market on Cambridge St. (right next to New Deal).

They have it at Pemberton Farms in Cambridge, and I'm pretty sure I saw it at Downtown Wine & Liquor in Davis Square.

Hi Allstonian: I tried this at Bronwyn and it was OK. Light and refreshing for summer but not sure it was better than the sum of its parts. Why not just add some grapefruit juice to a hefeweizen?

Well, more like add some grapefruit soda to a hefeweizen, but in any case I might not want a 24-ounce drink every time. (Which is what I would get if I mixed a full bottle of Hefeweizen with an equal amount of grapefruit soda.)

Because citrus belongs only in kristallweizen, not hefeweizen?

            I've seen it nearly everywhere.
