Here we go again!

Went out to the veggie patch and came upon this mammoth! I swear it wasn't there a week ago. This is one we didn't plant so were figuring its probably a yellow crookneck, as thats all I can imagine it could be. Or not? But it's huge already!, is it still edible? The underside lying on the ground is lighter yellow. Should we go ahead and harvest and eat or is this something for Guinness world record, lol.

  1. Looks like a yellow squash minus the crookneck. Should be ok to eat. Since it's so big you might want to scoop out the interior with loads of seeds but that's your choice. Steam the flesh for casserole or however you choose to fix it. But the reason it wasn't there a week ago is because yellow squash sneak up on you overnight..lol..that's how fast they grow.

Thanks miss_belle for your reply! I will probably steam as you suggest or treat as we do acorn and roast, whatever we do will be delicious just knowing it came out of our own garden :)
