Doner Kebab

Ok folks, I'm in Berlin for the next week. Before the mods take this down, tell me where to get a doner kebab so good, I'll never bother trying one in SD.
BTW - a search for Doner Kebab on the Europe board returns nothing.

  1. Out of curiosity I typed in doner and came up with 23 results in Europe (not all Berlin of course).

These 2 maybe of some use.

    1. Did Fakey suggest you go to Berlin?

      1. Imren on Koppstr. in Neukölln.
        Shark Döner near Hackescher Markt.

        1. Baghdad at Schlesisches Tor has been a Berlin institution for decades. And I kind of like the Rosenthaler Grill- und Schlemmerbuffet at Rosenthaler Platz. As long as the salad ingredients are fresh and the quality of the meat is good, the doener will be good. I was recently in the hospital with Remzi Kaplan, the so-called Doener King whose firm is the largest supplier of doener kebap meat in Europe, and he confirmed that the one at Rosenthaler Platz is considered a good one.
Recently, we were on Karl-Marx-Str. in Neukölln close to the Karl-Marx-Str. U-Bahn station, and stopped for a doener at a place on the right-hand side as you walk toward Karl-Marx-Platz, round about Uttmannstrasse. It was a nice clean place which seemed to be a lunch-time favourite with local Turkish people. The doener was delicious. I'm sorry, I don't remember the name of the place. Basically, in the Turkish part of town, any place that looks clean and well-attended will be good.

          1. Baghdad:
(Too bad the Street View picture is so terrible.) In the days before the fall of the wall, this was the end of the U1 U-Bahn line and Baghdad was in a more-or-less dead spot where West Berlin ended. It was a favourite place to chow down after a night of drinking.
