Dinner suggestions Americas Cup Pavillion Fri 6/21/13 [San Francisco]

DpBluSea Jun 13, 2013 12:10 PM

I'm asking for recommendations for a good spot for dinner near the SF Americas Cup Pavillion Friday night. Concert seats at 6:30pm and show starts at 7:30. Looking for a good place for 2 couples to dine beforehand (5pm?). Waterfront/view would be nice, and not outrageously expensive, but it's most important that the good be good and have reasonable proximity to the concert venue. All cuisines! You guys are the best! Appreciate any ideas!

Thank you, Robert! That looks very good. I don't think we can eat at 5pm, they are full! Any other thoughts?

They're not full, they just don't take reservations before 5:30. You could show up at 5:00 and hit the happy hour (3-6 daily) first for half-price appetizers.

They have a good bar area and they have the lounge and they have a large ability to take walk ins
Call them and ask, dont rely on open table

          I ate there before Sting

but tell them you are trying to leave by a certain time

If La Mar doesn't work (it should),

        Kokkari
        Bix
        Chaya
        Barbacco
        MarketBar
        Tadich
        Prospect
        ( dare I say Boulevard? )

Trying to match the "Billionaire's sport" (3 out of 4 teams are funded by a single billionaire), with decent food - some of these are a bit of a walk though

And I didn't check opening hours.

Boulevard gets a lot of snide comments here.

I've even be the source of them.

I haven't been there in a decade. There seem to be so many other really interesting places to eat.

What do you like there, and how would you compare it to board favorites like AQ, Namu Gaji, Perbacco/Barbacco, Cotogna, any of the usual suspects?

Coqueta might work for you. it's at Pier 5 and we have enjoyed it on two visits. I don't think you can be seated before 5:30 at La Mar. The last time we went to Coqueta, the bar there was full at 5:00 so we went for a drink at La Mar and they were not serving before 5:30. You could also try Hillstone (formerly Houston's) which, though it's part of a chain has some very good dishes and fast service, plus no corkage.
