Cabana Pool Bar Opening Soon

Was watching BT this morning and saw the opening of Cabana Pool Bar. It's another addition to the family of O&B restaurants. I was wondering if anyone was going to the opening this weekend and what your thoughts are on the new place?

It looks like a nice place with a South Beach vibe. The food ranges from $10-$40 and they offer sushi by Edo starting at $12 for a maki roll.

Douchefest (just like any INK venue).

    1. I think it is actually this - Cabana Pool Bar to bring a taste of Miami, Las Vegas and southern France to Toronto
Charles Khabouth’s Cabana opens at Polson Pier on June 15 with design by Alessandro Munge and food by Jamie Meireles

      It is INK not O&B.

INK venue, O&B food. I agree with squirms. Sounds vaguely douchey. Last time I looked, the French Riviera wasn't in an industrial park.

And that menu is waaaay off the mark for poolside dining.

how do you figure? its not like they serve french fries. i find "SEXY FRIES" very much poolside.

Whenever I'm poolside, I think *damn* I could go for a grilled cheese sandwich. Sushi in the sunshine (say THAT after some sake) is such a bad idea. Bad, bad, bad.

        2. I think it's a great idea (if we get good weather).

But I'm leery that it'll turn into a clubland-905-kid hangout.

          1. If you are interesting in just checking it out they are doing an "open house" type thing on Saturday, free admission after a certain time.

Also, you may have seen banners for the "Red Bull" solstice here on CH. That event is also happening at this new venue next Friday night and it is free as well.

I hope this turns into a great destination/venue. I am not expecting much out of it but since it won't be a huge season I hope they can make it profitable. I am guessing there will be a lot of corporate events here as time goes on.

            1. You're kidding, right? Saw it too and damn near fell out of bed laughing.watching BT. Looks like an outdoor sleazoid jiggle bar.

              1. We went to the opening on Saturday. TOTAL chaos, which I suppose you'd expect on opening day. If you can find a "server" (they all clump together at the bar), and he or she remembers that you ordered something (it took hours), the food is actually pretty good. But they were very overwhelmed, even though it looks as if they have plenty of staff.

Gals, your purse will be checked in case, God forbid, you bring a bottle of water in. Yep, in the hot sun and you must buy their water. Curiously, the drinks we ordered were American. I lurve Smirnoff Ice, which is 7% alcohol in Canada, but 5% alcohol in the States. Mine were definitely American (not light). I don't care about the alcohol, but for some reason the 7% tastes better. Also not one Canadian beer on the menu, all American. hmmm....

If you're over 30 you'll feel totally out of place. Still, it's definitely good people watching. It will be interesting to see how the THUMP THUMP THUMP of the club music during the day sits with the tenants on the Islands.

Thanks for the review! Still contemplated if it'll be a good place to go for a girls night

+1 I would rather have a tooth pulled - without freezing. Nuff said, I'm sure.
