Coming down for 4th of July weekend. Have always had good meals at SO-Del group restaurants. Anything new in the area or reviews of old standards?

If you are familiar with Lewes you have probably tried these, but just in case . . .

Our favorites are Touch of Italy (for lunch -- I am partial to #19 -- OR dinner), The Wharf (great mixed drinks) and JD's Filling Station.

We find Striper Bites overrated. Irish Eyes is decent but not nearly worth the price considering the other options available, but their appetizers do stand out especially the fried pickles and portabello fries. Half Full is also overpriced but if you are into artisan pizza it's worth going.

Agave is great for Mexican but show up (with your whole party) to put your name down for dinner well before you actually want to eat. Then wander around Second St. looking at the outlandishly priced clothes and candy until your table is ready. They do not take reservations.

I am sad to say I have not yet tried Café Azafrán :-(

We have had good breakfasts at JD's Filling Station, and good tapas at Cafe Azafran (Lewes location only).

Have never tried Striper Bites -- something about it has led me to believe we'd be disappointed, and I hate to waste meals at the beach.

judy -- the best collection of LSD (Lower, Slower Delaware -- Sussex County) restaurant reviews is at www.rehobothfoodie.com. We go down in August and I always check the Foodie out when I do my research.

We are also fans of the Sodel restaurants, but our meal last year at Northeast Seafood Kitchen in Bethany was just ok. I'd try Matt's Fish Camp or Catch 54 before going back to Northeast. We have enjoyed Fish On! and Lupo Di Mare very much (and Betty's too, but they could never quite make that one work).
