Frozen green chilies in ft collins?

Does anyone know of a spot in FC that sells frozen Pueblo or New Mexican chilies? Just dying to make some mean green back in NE.

  1. If you can't find frozen in a store, try asking a Mexican restaurant if they will sell you some, and freeze them for your trip.

    1. Almost every Safeway I've looked in has Bueno brand Hatch Chiles, in different heats, so check there first.

Yeah. Those work as a last resort... not a great product imo but better than nothing...

do you have a better suggestion for frozen? When I've run through mine, and it's winter and no fresh to be found, the Buenos (hot) have done the trick.

If you have a better suggestion, even if it doesn't fit the OP's parameters, please let me know.

The OP was the one responding to you :)

aha! so it is. I'd still be interested in knowing if there was something better than the Bueno, and I apologize for my sub-standard recommendation. :)

Sorry for slow reply. We made it back with 3 containers of Bueno.. <sigh>.. they were even out of the Autumn Roast and Extra Hot styles!! sonofa! But hey- still better than what we get in Lincoln. which is none.

What triggered my query in the first place is the fact that in Denver there is at least one store (The Chili Guys on Federal) that sell GREAT chilies in myriad styles frozen. And they are reasonably priced IMO. They sell Big Jims, Pueblo, Hatch (if that means anything anymore), Dynamites, etc..

I was curious if anyone up north was doing something similar.

Thanks for the responses all the same.
