Battersby review

I had been looking forward to going here for months and my wife and I finally got a date night without the little one. We showed up about 6:30 on a rainy Monday and were told the wait would be about 15 minutes (which it was). We grabbed a beer next door and they texted us when ready. Tiny restaurant and we were seated at the bar. Not a real view of the kitchen from out seat, but nonetheless it reminded us of sitting at the chef’s coutner at Dell’Anima in Manhattan. Overall we liked the food and would go back, all dished were good but there were two stand outs:

1. The Pappardelle with beef ragu (second course) – delicious! Best dish I’ve had in my first 8 months of living in Brooklyn (been to Al Di La, Convivium Osteria, and Saul also)

2. Rare wild king salmon (entree) – this was served with a nice, homemade chili/basil sauce

I did not order a cocktail, but after watching the bartender throughout our meal I wish I did. The other dishes we got:

1. Ruby red shrimp (first course) – not bad, but would not order again

2. Aspargus – served with sunny side up egg – my wife would’ve grouped this with the top two stand out dished. I also liked, but not quite as much as her

3. Short rib entrée – good enough but did not stand out

On last note, I do not usually care much about the bread, but the bread they serve here is great!
