BC strawberries 2013

So today I got my first pound of local strawberries, and it's already half gone. :)

Any tips on where to go in Vancouver for best price/quality? My husband bought this pack at Save On Foods for $5/lb. I am 7 months pregnant and not in the condition to do U-Pick personally, but feel free to share tips on that front for others.

  1. I saw some at Young Bros on Broadway the other day and I believe it was more like $4\lb but prices\quality vary from day to day. There was a stand at 16th Ave at the base of the hill which goes up to Alma last year and they had good quality berries l but I havent checked this year.

That's a good stand, Philx (it's on Blenheim in front of a little corner store). Later in the year they have other things, including corn. Looking forward to native strawbs after chowing down on some superlative specimens in Portland this past week!

do they mention if the berries are pesticide free?

Bought some from the stand last week. They were very good. $4/small container or 3 for $10. The large size is $8. They said the small containers are approx. 1.5 lbs while the big one is 3lbs.
