The Holy Donut in Portland, ME - Good gluten-free donuts!

I went to the Holy Donut in Portland last Friday, which was National Donut day. I arrived pretty late (around 12:30), which meant that they were almost completely sold out. All they had left were some gluten-free cinammon/sugar donuts, so I decided to buy one, even though it definitely wouldn't have been my first choice.

I'm happy to report that the donut was still excellent. It was moist, sweet, and I probably wouldn't have known it was gluten free if I hadn't been told. It's made w/ potato (like the other donuts) and rice flour.

Anyway, if there are any gluten-free folks out there looking for a good donut, definitely check these out.

  1. Their glutinous doughnuts are pretty darn good too, and come in a great range of flavors (dark chocolate sea salt, ginger, etc.)

    1. Thank you for the great advice... Will definitely

      1. Holy Donut is the truth. They are far better eaten there as I don't think they hold up for very long taken home. Go in, get the sea salt glazed chocolate donuts, enjoy life.

Went to Holy Donuts last weekend and loved it! The owner was so helpful and even sent us on our vacation with a free box of donuts! Definitely worth the trip!

        2. The bacon cheddar donut was amazing! We also had a chocolate sea salt, Maine blueberry, and chocolate cinnamon. All excellent. They also make ice from coffee for their iced coffee, so they don't get diluted with water when the ice melts. A brilliant idea!
