Thoughts on Fresh Choice Marketplace DTW

The current grocery chain I shop with has finally broken my spirit and stolen my patience. So I have decided to ditch where I'm currently shopping, and split my grocery needs between ALDI, Trader Joe's, and some third market.

Right now the leader in my search is Fresh Choice Marketplace. There's one close to our house. Only been in to this location twice--to buy holiday turkeys at a great price. The circulars Fresh Choice mails show really outstanding prices for fresh meats and deli. Far less expensive than the giant chains.

Any MI 'hounds have experience with Fresh Choice Marketplace?

Never heard of it. Where is it/are they located?

Never mind...found it in Eastpointe. Took a look at the weekly ad, and you're right: the fresh meats prices are pretty low. You'll have to let us know if the meat is good stuff, or if those prices reflect a poorer quality.

      Will do, boagman.

Wife is retiring at the end of the month, so dinners home will be much more structured. That's why I want to find a meat supplier that won't steal our life savings. ;)

Hmmm...I'd be inclined to say head to Eastern Market every Saturday with one of those little carts and stock up!

Congrats to your wife, I'm utterly jealous.

At Gratiot Central Market, for sure--maybe not on everything but on a lot of stuff

no idea, i think the big box store has pretty cheap prices on meats...depending on what you need. If you're looking for cheap meat, just get cheaper cuts and cook em better...and i mean in theory red meat isn't all that healthy for you right?

or stock up and get a box freezer when things go on sale. cheapest prices in town is during sales...

as far as markets are concerned, i'm pretty happy with meijer as far as prices of groceries goes...but i only buy a few cuts from them anyways. The way i look at it is like the people who wait 15 min in line at costco to buy gas. there might be a 20-30 cent difference, but its only 3 bucks if you get a 15 gal tanks worth, but you lost 15 min. of gas and your day. so i mean that means your time is only 12 bucks an hour.
