Casual but tasty place to meet around 20 people?

  • 7

Hi SF Chowhounds, we're getting an informal group of 15-20 people together somewhere at a bar/restaurant in SF. Can you think of some place we can all go? I don't want to have to book a room or anything. A big spacious place where it'll be easy for folks to come and go. Buy their own drinks and food, etc. An EASY experience all around, ya know? Thanks for any suggestions! A nice view would be a plus!

  1. How casual? There's this option: http://blogs.sfweekly.com/foodie/2013... No view there, but, if its not too casual, maybe a OTG at Fort Mason or a the Park, depending on your timing...

Hi there, thanks for this idea, but these are perhaps a little too casual. Someone suggested the Tango Room at Fairmont hotel....something like that in terms of scale and easy to gather, but not so stuffy (and I doubt the food and booze are any good). Thanks for brainstorming!

You are right, the food and drinks at Tonga Room are not the reason to go there - go really only for the kitsch look.

La Mar on the Embarcadero has great drinks and food, and a large lounge-y space, in addition to the bar, though it could be hard for any coordinated ordering. What day/time are you planning? If it is a non-peak time, that could work. But someplace that you order and pay at the counter is easiest for a big no-host group.

    2. Schroeder's isn't a foodie place but it's good for a casual meetup.

      1. Harry Denton's

        Thirsty Bear (can reserve upstairs)

I don't believe you can reserve for a group at Thirsty Bear if people are going to buy their own drinks and food.

Upstairs requires a host bar and food.

Downstairs I think you can reserve a couple of tables in the bar area.
