Anyone care to suggest a place in or near Richardson for great food at a reasonable price? Is there a Central Market in Richardson?

Don't know exactly what you mean about funky fun food, perhaps you want to be more specific.
If you want Richardson east of Central/75, check out the Chinese restaurants. First Chinese BBQ is a noodle shop on the east side of Greenville Ave, about a block south of Beltline. Prices are good.
Ideal menu:
BBQ pork and wonton noodle soup
Beef flat noodles with black bean sauce
Chinese broccoli
Salt shrimp
Half or a whole roast duck.
(also the Singapore noodles if you can handle another noodle dish. And the hot pots are fine)
Another "funky fun food" place is one of the dim sum places. Don't remember what's best in that area.
There are Vietnamese pho places which are pretty good (for good, go to Houston).

There is the original Luna de Noche in east Richardson on Jupiter (or it might actually be Garland). Otherwise, I think that the best restaurants in Richardson are probably the Asian restaurants. I'm sure that someone else can offer you more insight on them then me.
The nearest Central Market is likely the Plano location (Coit near the Bush Turnpike).

For Indian I like Kebab-n-Kurry (west side service road of Central Expressway between Beltline and Arapaho) and Star of Siam for Thai (near the north west corner of Central and Spring Valley). It is a husband/wife place where you can BYOB. Another place I like (not so funky food) is Main Street Liquid Company in downtown Richardson (Main Street) for its TV show Cheers feel and their food is good and the beer is ice cold.
