Bryan Voltaggio is competing on Top Chef Masters

Just read the article on Eater announcing the contestants for the latest round of Top Chef Masters. Including the first Top Chef contestant to compete as a Master, Bryan Voltaggio (Yay!).

Gail Simmons will be a new critic and there's some sort of online competition, hosted by Hugh Acheson (Yay again!), which will be a battle of the sous chefs. They can win advantages for their competing bosses.

Ditto. Would love to know when the series begins.

      2. Good news, I've only had Michael's food but respect both Chefs. Can not wait to see the line-up.

          1. That's great news. Thanks! I need another TC fix. Happy about Gail being head judge.

Agree re: having Gail Simmons there. Still wish Oseland was gone, however. The additional online competition will be interesting to watch to see how the advantages AND obstacles will affect the TCMs.

And oy vey! on some of the celebrity judges:

"and they're serving up food for some top entertainers and celebrity guest judges including: Mindy Kaling, Busy Philipps, Kathie Lee Gifford, Lindsay Price, the cast of Days Of our Lives, Ali Larter, the cast of Yo Gabba Gabba, LA Cult Favorites Lucha Va Voom among others."

              Kathie Lee? Yo Gabba Gabba?

This is starting to sound a bit like Iron Chef America - celebrity guest judges with little to no culinary credentials

I can't stand Oseland. He literally makes my skin crawl.

                  1. re: wincountrygirl

Yea, after Oseland's behavior at the pool party last season, he gives me the creeps.

                    1. re: saeyedoc

Good grief, I forgot about the pool party too. That make it so much worse!

                      1. re: saeyedoc

He also did something during Chiarello & Hubert Keller's season that rubbed me the wrong way and I haven't liked him since. I think he let his personal feelings about Chiarello sway his judging. Not that I like Chiarello but I thought it was petty on Oseland's part. Does anyone remember this?

                        1. re: JonDough

You're right. He clearly did not like Chiarello. That guy is just slimy.

                    2. re: LindaWhit

Oy vey, indeed! The celebrity judges and Oseland are my two peeves. I'd forgotten about last summer's pool party creepfest.

                      1. re: LindaWhit

oseland doesn't bother me and isn't any creepier than gail simmons' tightly pulled face.
she seems like a nice lady if a little dull.

                      2. I would have to think that Bryan would be favorite for making the top 3-4. Having already participated in Top Chef, I do believe is an advantage. Not so much for individual challenges, but just the pacing of filming, risks that are rewarded vs risks that aren't, and the overall flow of the show.

I don't think it's a surprise that over the 4 seasons previous seasons of this show that the 2 of the winners are regulars on the competition television circuit.
