Duplicate Post Message when Posting with Photos

Breadcrumbs Jun 5, 2013 10:00 AM

Recently when I've added photos to a post and hit "Reply" I eventually get a message "Duplicate Post". I have to open a new tab to see my post as the original screen still has the spinning ball thing (sorry, don't know the technical term!!) as if my reply hasn't been added.

If I post text only, I don't have this issue.

I'm using a macbook with Safari.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, on Macbook Air with firefox. It's been going on for more than a week. It doesn't seem to happen when I upload just one photo. But always happens when I upload three or more.

Good to know I'm not alone. I rarely add just one photo (and maybe that's the problem!!) but will keep an eye out now Melanie. Thanks.

Just to be clear, do the image uploads succeed (despite the endless spinner) ?

        They do.

The page you use to post is caught in the endless loop though so you need to refresh or open a new tab to proceed.

In my case, yes. If I open another tab and load the message board, my new post with photos will be there. And I've noticed that the new post in the new tab will not open until the tab that's spinning puts up a duplicate post error message.

I have wondered if it's related to the size of the images. My photos are usually about 2mb apiece.

            Hi Breadcrumbs and Melanie.

Thanks for your reports. I was able to reproduce this, so we'll have a look into it.

Hi DeborahL, just an update on this. Today I was posting on the WFD thread. The good news is that I didn't get the "Duplicate Post" message. Unfortunately I did still get the endless spinning ball though so I opened a new tab to see if my post was up. The bad news was, it was posted twice! I closed the tab with the spinning ball for fear more might appear! I've reported this on the WFD thread too so hopefully the duplicate will be removed.

I reported your duplicate as well, Bc. Was wondering what had happened there!

Thanks Linda. Must be kind of like the finger in the dyke issue. They manage to plug one hole and another one emerges!

Thanks for the update. We're still working on a fix for this.

I just posted a new thread, got the spinning ball, opened up another tab, and boom - two duplicates, three total threads! Lots of pictures, so it seems like it might be the same issue reported here?

Mods, would you mind deleting two of them, please? Thanks!

Uploading six photos in a post, I got the duplicate post error message just now. However, there is no duplicate posting. I had open another tab to see my post, as it did not post in the original tab.
