Bay Area Food Festivals and Events, June 2013 -

There's something big going on in the park by Berkeley City Hall today, from the clothing I'd guess something Indian or Pakistani.

More info for 6/28 Friday's Old Vines and Their Wines event with Joel Peterson and Linda Murphy noted above.

Ridge, Ravenswood and Bedrock wines will be poured for the tasting portion of the evening. And there's a rumor that Carlisle zin will make an appearance.

Unfortunately, I can't be there myself, but my discount code "MSWong" can be used by anyone who reads this message to buy a ticket for the $40 WLASC members price. (Public price $50)

If you've not attended a Sonoma County Wine Library event before, in my experience, you get a lot for your money in the educational component and the wines poured for tasting. They're typically well-attended by winery members of the library.

                  1. re: Melanie Wong

Wine writer Linda Murphy just confirmed that Carlisle will be poured tonight. Also old vine wines from Carol Shelton and Pedroncelli.

                    1. re: Melanie Wong

And just heard more specifics from Bo Simons, librarian, on the wines: Ravenswood "Old Hill" and Carol Shelton "Monga", among others.

Ravenswood Old Hill is great juice, wish I could be there.

I went to the pirate festival a few years ago. Don't go for the food!

The Isleton Crawdad Festival was a complete waste of time and gas when I went in 2007. Huge crowds, blistering heat, nothing decent to eat. Any reports of it having improved since?

Tum Mure was a new one for me, so I sent a query and rec'd this response back and a photo: "tum mure is like papaya salad with 'mixture' of other ingredients: papaya, cabbage, morning glory, carrot, vermicelli noodles, some meat or seafood. Some vegetable are slightly cook and some fresh. "
