Visitors from Toronto looking for a great meal near Union Square

We are in town for one night in August and are looking for suggestions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Spouse and I are foodies but we will have 2 kids with us who are rather picky, so any places that are also kid-friendly is appreciated. Thanks.

  1. I would go to Sears Fine Foods for breakfast then BurgerBar in Macys for lunch. If you must stay in the area for dinner then I'd recommend Lark Creek or MY Chinain the Westfield Mall. If not try House of Prime Rib on Van Ness.

    1. Even my picky child likes Cotogna, which is not that far from Union Square. I find Italian in general to be good for picky eaters, so if you don't want to go that far you might also consider Perbacco or Berbacco.
What day of the week are you here? Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday there are markets at the Ferry Building and you could easily find something to satisfy foodies and picky kids.

Thank you, superbigeater and absc, for your suggestions. We will be there on a Sunday.

Cotogna is quite a distance from Union Square. It is at least a 15 minute walk.

Fino is a nice Italian restaurant in the 600 block of Post Street, 2 blocks west of Union Square.

It would also be worth your while to go to the upper right-hand corner of this page and do a search for "Union Square." You will find many, many past threads on dining in the Union Square area with dozens and dozens of helpful suggestions already here for you to review.

Scala's Bistro is another good Italian choice and is on Powell Street, less than 1 block north of Union Square.
