Which of these Mexicans should I go with?

Looking for a nice Mexican restaurant for a Saturday night. Not too casual. Should be good enough for a date night. Awesome food and a nice interior and atmosphere would be great.

Looking for the best among these:

Ofrenda. Crema. Mercadito. El toro blanco. Mayahuel.

Thank you.

  1. Mayahuel is more of a bar, specializing in tequila and mezcal cocktails. Is that what you want?

    1. Mayahuel is out then... Which one of the others would be a good bet..? Thanks...

      1. empellon?
        Hecho en Dumbo?
Tacombi is pretty casual, but cool.
Fonda on ave B has a date night feel.

To be fair, I havent been to the first two on your list, and Im not a fan of the last 3. But the above would be my date night mexican spots.

Which empellon? What is the difference between the two?

        2. The thread subject is worded funny. I wasn't sure if you were asking for which restaurant to go to for your date or who to take on your date.

Have only been to Mercadito. Food is nice but I don't think I would choose it for a date place both food and atmosphere wise.

That's what I thought, too. Hmm, if I were 20 years younger and unmarried, I'd go with the cute Mexican trainer at my gym. But I'm pretty sure this is a discussion about Mexican food.

Yeah, I was going to say, definitely Juan or Francisco, Pedro is kind of creepy, Domingo is too quiet, and Aurelio already has two girlfriends.

Go with the Mexican that makes you happiest!

                1. Toloache is good. Rosa Mexicano is a bit precious, but pretty good. I've had good food at Cascabel Taqueria.

                  1. I have not been to Ofrenda, but of the remaining, Mercadito has my favorite food and drinks. The interior of the West Village location is not much to speak of, but the outdoor seating is worthwhile.
