Cheap, Friendly and "Authentic" in Barri Gotic, Barcelona

I'll be staying with friends for a week in Barri Gotic, close to Jaume 1. I'm looking for recs for inexpensive, "authentic" food within the neighborhood or close by.
"Cheap" for us is 25 and under, exclusive of drinks. Tapas, menus del dia – anything like that. A fun, relaxed atmosphere and a good drinks menu is always a plus.
Thanks in advance for any pointers!

I'm a fan of Café de L'Academia on Calle Lledo (Plaça Sant Just). Good value for menú del día, I've had lovely dinners there, friendly and good service.

La vinerteria Del Call on carrer sant Dominic del call. Very charming, candle lit type establishment. Excellent tapas menu and a great place for an all around gourmet tapas tasting. The wine list is also pretty incredible! On the same street you have Zona d'Ombra which is an awesome wine bar that has a great iberico plate and terrific wine. Finally, also off the same street is Allium. Allium has a little bit if a tourist trap vibe at first glance, but you will quickly discover that the quality of food is outstanding. All products served from cheeses to eggs are sourced from top quality providers. The wine list is rather interesting as well. Bon profit!

Metro Jaume I is right at the edge of the Barri Gotic and La Ribera (Born). You'll have tons of options. My top choices for a real Barcelona tapas experience would be Bar La Plata on Carrer Mercè, El Xampanyet on C/ de Montcada and one of the Calas del Vermut just north of the Catedral. There are, of course, tons of other options. A search of this board for specific categories will yield all the answers you need.
