Best traditionally made ca phe sua da in SGV?

Mr Taster May 29, 2013 03:33 PM

I want the drip filter, the two cups, pour over ice and stir it together myself.

The last one I had at com tam thuan kieu (next to Hawaii supermarket) was premade and bitter (but man, their tofu skin and steamed egg is spectacular)

Cảm ơn
Mr Taster

I asked this question a while ago

    http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/624866

My conclusion after all this time = make it yourself cuz nobody will make it the way you want. it's either too bitter or too sweet, because 50% want it sweet, 50% want it bitter.

For instance, when you say "bitter" like it's a bad thing, I got excited because it's usually too damn sweet.

Sad to hear this is the case. Thanks for linking to that 2009 thread.

I'm down for a great iced cafe sue dua,

even if they make and mix it themselves.

And taster, is it a storefront in the hawaii supermarket or just a stand (that's a great supermarket they got there given that they do carry some Opus One and other fine wines).

Com Tam Thuan Kieu is a local mini-chain. Entrance on Valley in the Hawaii complex.

Ok so I asked. Most shops (for example, kim ky) will automatically give you the premade one.

Specify you want sua da "for here" or with "drip filter"

I haven't gotten it recently at sit down restaurants because its usually either too late or lunch break. So i just get it to go.

Will check around and report back, but i remember most shops automatically giving u the filter... in the past. now many default to giving u premade since it's easier and faster.

i've had it that way at the joint on vermont, near third, can't remember the name, the food was passable, the presentation with the filter for you to mix yourself was just grand.

When I was a kid, while i was eating with my family, i always remembered the filter+cup of ice. For some reason, when I go out to eat now, at the same restaurants, a premade cup is given (similar to lee's), but i'm quite certain all you need to do is specify you want it with the filter.

though i doubt at places like lee's you can get it without it already being mixed.

they probably already have it pre-mixed.

                and then add ice.

I meant restaurants, not fast food.

Just two for example. my hanh in rosemead. They used to give it with the filter and cup of ice, but now they default to a premixed to go cup.
