Poznan, Poland

  • 4

Greetings! I'm going to Poznan, Poland in two weeks to give a lecture at the Adam Mickiewicz University. I'm looking for any recommendations you might have for restaurants in Poznan, especially restaurants near the university. Thanks!

  1. I am headed to Poznan myself for the first time later this month. So, while I can't speak from firsthand experience, I was told by a local that Brovaria in the Stary Rynek is good and plus they have their own brews.

I tried Brovaria last night and it was very good. I had a beetroot soup with some nice, tender meat dumplings. The main course I had was a pork tenderloin with a porcini mushroom sauce and potato dumplings (basically, gnocchi). The porcini mushroom sauce was especially good, and the dish was served with excellent, fresh mushrooms, carrots, and broccoli. The beer seems much better, so far, from Brovaria than the mass-produced options at the other bars and restaurants in Poznan. One note: it is a very popular place. The outdoor seating was packed most of the night.

Thanks for the review. Now we'll definitely have to try it when we're there (plus we're staying at the hotel)!

I ate there again tonight! The beef tenderloin with pepper sauce and au gratin potatoes is just as good. Have fun. Poznan is beautiful.
