Trying to find an elegant location in Edmonton

EdmEater May 28, 2013 08:13 AM

I have a family reunion coming up and I'm looking for a spot for about 15 people to have dinner, somewhere really nice and elegant. The cuisine isn't that important, mostly the ambience - this group would not like a chain or something with a corporate feel like Lux, but they also don't want to be sitting on plastic chairs or anywhere cramped or noisy. Any suggestions?

Character's has some of the nicest private rooms IMO.

Thanks! The photos look excellent. Is the food at least OK?

Very mixed reviews here on Chow. I haven't been for about 3.5 years (since we left Edmonton), but went there several times and always thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Perhaps someone else here has been recently and could chime in.

I went recently and really enjoyed my meal.

I would also recommend Madison's or Hardware Grill listed below, but would caution against the Harvest Room. I was there in February and my meal was fine, which isn't the best endorsement for that price point.

That's a good way to put it!

Try the Harvest Room, Madison's Grill, or Hardware Grill

Has anyone ever been to the River House in St. Albert? I can't weight in as I haven't, but would be interested in hearing others' thoughts.
