Looking for weekend Dim Sum with pushcart service in Vancouver, BC

  • 7

Can anyone recommend a restaurant that still brings Dim Sum around on those awesome little wheeled carts? They seem to be a dying breed. Most places in Vancouver have switched over to ordering off the menu.

  1. This fab list was compiled by none other than Grayelf awhile back on pushcart dim sum restos:

I'm sure there's an updated version somewhere but I couldn't find one (hint hint, GE). But the list serves as a starting point.

There are a couple of updates in the comments section below the post Lotus linked to that I believe were incorporated. Otherwise, alas, I fear there aren't too many more in Vancouver proper. I do know of a few in Richmond but that isn't what the OP is after. Don't forget to call ahead to ensure carts are still in use, and when they are out (some places only have them at certain times it seems).

        FIS, here's one in Richmond:

And there are likely others in Richmond but I suspect the # would be rather low these days.

    2. Thanks, LotusRapper! It's not in Vancouver proper but worth a shot. Several Vancouver places that were described online as having pushcarts no longer offer them; one restaurant employee explained over the phone that they are not very economical in terms of food waste, since the stuff gets cold if it isn't snapped up quickly. Whereas with ordering off the menu, the kitchen only makes what people order, therefore no extra food.

If you're willing to go to Richmond, South Ocean may still have the carts as well.

Continental Seafood Restaurant in Richmond (on Cambie Rd, just west of #5 Rd) has push carts too.
