How's the food at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA?

Any idea how it compares to the Grove Park Inn, in Asheville, NC?

  1. We've been to the Homestead once, and the food was average and overpriced. There isn't really anywhere close by to eat, either. Seems that people go there for golf, spa, hot springs, etc and not really as a foodie destination.

We go to Asheville a couple times a year and there are many great food options. Have never eaten at Grove Park.

    1. I have to agree, food is not great there. Years ago they had different management and much better food. I have only been there twice. The second time was not worth it. about 20 years ago it was worth it.

      1. Thanks. Food is a critical thing since Hot Springs has nothing there but the Homestead.

        1. Aside from the resort, the only other options in Hot Springs are the Country Kitchen or Cucci's Pizzeria. Suggest you drive 10 miles north to Warm Springs as the Inn at Grist Mill Square has a decent restaurant (make reservation). And while you are in Warm Springs, stop by the the Jefferson Pools for a soak in what's probably the oldest mineral water spa in the Country.
