South Bay or Santa Monica/Malibu with a View

Meeting friends from Redondo Beach for dinner - we are in Santa Monica. Any ideas of decent food with an ocean view? Not a fan of Charthouse or Duke's. Geoffrey's is a bit more than we want to spend.
Enjoy Memorial Day.

The Sunset http://www.thesunsetrestaurant.com/ would probably work well.

Food is mediocre at best. Has anyone been to Back on the Beach?

Just for stuff like burgers and fries. Nice to be right on the beach but the food is just ok.

      Penthouse at the Huntley.
Food is "decent", nothing too innovative, but the views and the room are fantastic.

Second for the Huntley. VIew and room are great. Food is good, not great, but IMHO better than decent.

Catch at Casa del Mar. Fantastic view, fantastic food. Menu is varied for all price points. Or, Casa del Mar lobby by the windows - same chef/kitchen, bar food prices and sized plates.

View is gorgeous at The Sunset. Food is mediocre, so keep it simple. That view is worth the price of admission. I think the parking is $4.50 for 2 hours. Not bad.

The best view of all, but expensive is the new Nobu Malibu.

I think that if Geoffrey's is out of their price range for this meet up then Nobu would leave them gasping for air and clutching their chests when the check came...but you are right about the location/view. Larry Ellison did Nobu proud with his purchase of that location for a cool $17 million...
