Fitler Dining Room

We had a lovely evening at FTD yesterday. A quiet night in a city which seemed almost deserted, allowing for easy parking. I loved Meme but I am amazed at what they've done with the space. It's very attractive. We sat in the corner of a comfortable couch with views of both 22nd and Spruce St. The host was friendly, with a good sense of humor. Service was very good. A Rhone rose was suggested ($8), and we greatly enjoyed two glasses each. Perhaps unfortunately, I also enjoyed a tawny port with my cheese plate. A bit beyond my alcohol limit but I was enjoying myself and was not driving. The menu is small and very well executed. It is also artfully presented. I hesitate to order oysters nowhere but a few places. My ix oysters were perfect. Medium sized and briny with salmon roe and a terrific mignonette. The halibut dish that followed was equally good. My husband thought his saad was "okay" but loved his pork loin with lentils. He also enjoyed a carrot cake with cinnamon ice cream. I was most impressed with their cheese offerings. A long list. The waiter's suggestions, once I told him my preferences, we're spot on. a very enjoyable evening indeed.
