Prospect Restaurant on Fulton is one of the top restaurants in Brooklyn right now, for both food and service, and they are hip to the pre-theater tip, so if you make a reservation, I bet they could get you out in time for your show.

Der Schwarze Kollener is fun. Very low prices. Variety of traditional German sausages and beers. Served with nice, big soft pretzels. Nice atmosphere. More bar food than proper dinner, but you can leave here full and set for the night.

... have not tried Le Caye, next door to Berlyn. Le Caye is supposed to be some kind of Caribbean restaurant. I spoke with one of the owners when they opened up and had a drink there. Everyone was friendly. He was very proud, I just haven't had a chance to go in to eat. It looks frequently busy though.

If you don't mind a little walk, Bark Hot Dogs, The Woodlands, and Franny's are all on Flatbush and worth your time. Especially Franny's. Did I mention Franny's? Easy to get a table for pre-theater. I go in frequently at that time, and there is always room. Never heats up before 7pm, that I've seen.
