We will be in Washington DC for 4 days soon. We will be staying at the Marriott on Pennsylvania ave, near the White house. Looking for good casual places to stop for late lunches early dinners while doing all the tourist things in that area. We will be spending most of our time in the mall
to Capital area. I was wondering how Matchbox is, it is close to our hotel. I also like the way the menu looks at Bistro Du Coin, I know most say it loud, but, I can handle that. I can use some good breakfast ideas in that area or pastry/bakery breakfast places..........Any ideas ??????????...........Someone in the Philadelphia forum told me to get saome Scrapple while i'm in Philly, I think it may also be in the DC area ?????? ..................Thx for the help.............Bill

For bistro fare, Bistro d'Oc is far better and much closer to the White House.

matchbox and du coin aren't close. not far, but not close. d'Oc and Central are closer. in DC the hotels do b'fast best (unless you want a bagel or a fried egg sandwich in a bag). I think someone on this board has said good things about Cafe du Parc at the Willard for that.

scrapple is dive bar/diner stuff (I LIKE it!) you're unlikely to find much downtown. if you're on the Hill hit the Tune Inn or the Market Lunch. sometimes there are delis downtown who will fry you up a slice.
