Decent chow after 10PM near Reading or between Reading and Lexington near 128?

My friends and I are going to the IMAX in Reading tomorrow (Monday) evening and will probably be looking for dinner afterwards. The last time we did this, nearby pickings were very very slim. One of my friends has very limited food experience (that thankfully does include Chinese and Indian as well as food common to our area) and is wary of anything new (but can be convinced to try anything that doesn't sound strange or wierd). The other is adventurous and particularly goes for spicy food. Happily he is flexible and would probably enjoy anything good (except if there are raw tomatoes, don't ask).

Can anyone suggest a restaurant near the IMAX in Reading or near any exit off 128 between there and route 2A that will welcome diners at around 10PM and satisfy both of my friends?

Where is there a Flatbread Pizza Company close to Jordan's in Reading?

I suspect the suggestion was related to the " or near any exit off 128 between there and route 2A" of the request. The Flatbread at 213 Burlington Road, Bedford, MA is 2 miles off 128 (at exit 32A) on the way from the IMax to Rt 2A.

That being said, they seem to be open only to 9PM Monday-Thursday.

And Flatbread's website IS an abomination.

correct, thank you. How did you find the hours? I coudn't find them anywhere!

After you figure out what to do on the jarringly confusing home page, click on birdhouse with the nearly unreadably laid-out "Bedford MA" on it. Then, click on either the illegible "Directions" flag, or the badly designed "Contact" flyer.

The hours of operation are in a small font, tucked under the puzzling signpost totem.

The only thing this website lacks is bad midi music.

LMAO! Cant imagine why I couldn't find it!

    2. I had a decent lunch at Oye today. Its in the same general shopping area as the Imax & Their website says they're open until midnight.

Thanks, Gimlis1mum that definitely looks like a possibility!

I second Oye. Decent sushi and Americanized Chinese in stylish digs. The bar is popular on weekends. Not sure what it will be like on a Monday night.

        2. I end up going out late nights in this area after community theater shows. There are some chain options in that area that are open late: Chili's, Macaroni Grill, Bertucci's (but those last 2 only on Fridays and Saturdays).

Better options, all within about a 5 minute drive of Jordan's, include:

Grumpy Doyle's in Reading, -- Irish style pub food that's better than it needs to be.

Oye's in Reading -- Pan Asian menu, I've liked the sushi a lot, mixed drinks are pretty good, including Mai Tais that actually use orgeat syrup. Prices are on the high side though and the service can be excruciatingly slow at times, but probably not on a Monday night.

Laurie 9:09 in Wakefield -- fun bar, decent menu, open later than the others but not open on Mondays so won't work for you.

Thanks, Chris VR. Last time my friends and I did this, we ended up at Chili's. It was the only thing that we could see that was open. Ugh. It's great to know about some better options!

            1. re: PinchOfSalt

Yeah we end up there a LOT. Ugh indeed. Oyes is right in that same area, on the other end of the bunch of stores across from Chili's.

          2. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We went to Oye. Turns out they have a limited menu after 10PM. Sushi is still available but the Chinese choices are few. There are the standard appetizers and only one main, General Gao's chicken. The scallion pancakes and the General Gao's were decent but not exemplary, in line with the general impression given in this thread. The Peking raviolis may have been made in house - usually a good thing - but the wrapper was a bit on the thick side and the filling kinda sorta dense. Overall, still better than Chilli's, but folks should be aware of the limited menu starting at 10 PM.

for possible future reference, there is a new Tavern on the square adjacent to the Burlington Mall. They have a wide ranging menu and far better than Chilli's in my opinion. I;ve been to the one in Central Square and thought it awful but ventured inot the Burlington location with my daughter and had a fine meal.

Thanks! No doubt this is not the last time my friends and I will be seeking an after-IMAX meal.

I thought bertuccis was open late night and have a half price app special.. Is Margaritas in Lexington late? I have never been..Unos at the Woburn Mall might be and the 99 is probably open near Woburn Mall or Stoneham, and Borders might be, also Woburn Mall area. I know we had the same prob last nite on Mon and couldn't find anything open until the 99 in Wakefield.
