Lunch meeting in St. Paul

  • 8

From time immemorial, a committee that I currently lead has met in June for a business meeting and luncheon at The Lexington. This year, The Lex will be closed for all of June, so I need to come up with a Plan B that will recreate our Lex experience as best I can.

Our group will be between 15 and 20 people. We typically meet between 10:30 and 11:00, work for an hour or so, and then have lunch. A private room would be preferable, but setting us off to the side would probably work too. People come from across the state for this meeting, and I'd like to find a place outside of downtown if possible in order to avoid having the additional cost of parking. The cuisine should probably not be too "out there" - we eat at The Lex for a reason I suppose.

We're looking into W.A. Frost but I'd appreciate any other suggestions. Thanks in advance.

  1. Maybe the Nicollet Island Inn? I know they have a small private room, but it seems they may also be able to close off the west side of their dining room, if memory serves. It's been a while.

Sorry. I missed the St. Paul in the title of the post.

    2. Have you looked at the Downtowner Woodfire Grill? They have a private dining room and I believe would meet all your criteria.

      1. Mancini's is your ticket. They do these all the time and the food will be similar to what you'd find at The Lexington. Giant lot available for parking along with the ideal Saint Paul experience.

Db, do you know whether Mancini's does lunch? I'd thought of them as being a possible candidate, but their website says they open at 4:30 pm.

They have in the past, you just have to coordinate it with them. For that many people, I'm sure they would put something together.

I've actually seen cars there during the day many times so I think it happens fairly frequently. I'd call and ask and see what they can do.

            Good luck.

        2. I would look at M Street Cafe in the basement of the St. Paul hotel -- they have private meeting rooms and you can either order off the menu or from their daily hot and cold sideboards. You could also just rent a meeting room from the St. Paul Hotel and then eat at the St. Paul Grill.

I know you asked to avoid downtown, but you can park free for 3 hours in the Lawson Ramp if you eat at either place.

          1. The Saint Paul Athletic Club is now serving lunch. If one of your group is a member...
