For those who are ignorant of Rijsttafel, as I was...

Now I'm hungry... sounds like quite an event.

Andover Inn was the last place I know locally that served it, and they stopped doing that years ago.

Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan has a place that does rijsttafel called Bali Nusa Indah, but I've never been.

      DC or Ottawa, maybe?

Or possibly NYC, per this thread from January 2012:

Definitely nowhere in the greater Boston area.

You're right, when Henry Broekhoff left. Good gravy, I miss that.

Bentara in New Haven? They're Malaysian, but have some Dutch/Indonesian items. Don't know if they do Rijsttafel occasionally?

The Andover Inn's version was no loss - very bland and Americanized.

For what it's worth, I've eaten at Bali Nusa Indah a few times, and it's quite tasty. Good service and reasonable prices as well. It's one of my favorites for after-theater dining when I go to NYC...especially because it's one of the few things that I can't get at all in Boston.

I think you are right Jimmy Mac's in Somerville stopped probably a few years before Andover Inn. Jimmy Mac's was decent and it was interesting that Great Taste also tried to make a go of that space with an American + ethnic menu like the second owner of Jimmy Mac's. I thought there was also a catering option a while back.
