Dinner in Pasadena: Parkway Grill or The Raymond?
Hi all -
My boyfriend and I are taking our friends out who just recently got engaged. I'm from the Pasadena area (although we're coming in from Boston) and we'd like to stay in that area. We'd like to go to a place with nice ambiance, but most of all with spectacular food and great service (good wine/cocktail selection wouldn't hurt either). Right now we've narrowed it down to Parkway Grill or The Raymond.
Which would you recommend for 4 late-20 somethings? Or is there somewhere else you'd recommend all together?
Thanks in advance for your help
Have not been to Parkway Grill for many yrs but thought it was lovely the few times that I did go (and one of those times was for a celebratory event). I'd say it has/had nice ambiance, good (but not spectacular) food, and fine service.
Have never been The Raymond for dinner, so can't comment on that.
Went to Vertical Wine Bistro once several yrs ago. More "trendy" than Parkway Grill, but still appropriate for your purposes. Again, the food was "only" good, not spectacular.
I believe Bistro 45 has received good review from posters on the board?
Parkway Grill is the safe choice between it and The Raymond, which has gone through several iterations of changes in the kitchen and with the theme of the restaurant overall. That by itself does not mean it isn't good, it's just that I cannot tell you how The Raymond is right now -- not having visited in about 3-4 months.
Other places I would look at -- esp. given your age group -- is Vertical Wine Bistro and/or Racion.
