Park Slope Sushi

My girlfriend and I have been going to Geido on Flatbush. We are definitely pleased with it, but I'd like to check out a few other places (variety is the spice of life, after all).

Does anyone one have recommendations for sushi? I'd be interested in what people think about both high end and everyday options.

  1. I'm interested in this topic too. All I can offer is an encouragement to avoid Kiku and the place in Windsor Terrace nearest the movie theater. Purely mediocre, at least when I sampled some years ago.

    1. Taro (also now on Flatbush). Much better than Geido.

      1. We tend to order delivery from Koto on 6th ave and Bergen, who will deliver to us down in the south slope. if were going out in the neighborhood Ten has been pretty reliable, despite the somewhat tacky effort at upscale decor (my mother-in-law really liked the light up ice cube that came with the sashimi platter) and a once-less-than-stellar DOH grade. its not destination sushi by any stretch, but both are more than okay for when the need hits and we cant get into the city for something better.

How does Koto compare to Ten? Better? We live around 4th/9th and feel like there's not much good sushi nearby, and we're unfamiliar with options in North Slope or across 9th street into Carroll Gardens. We're also from California and noticed that the better places in NY are pricier than back home. It seems like in CA you can get higher quality fish for your money. But maybe this is because I don't know the area well enough like I did in CA. I feel like I'm missing some insider information here, like there must be some good places that aren't exorbitant...

I have heard of Geido and Taro but haven't had a chance to try them yet.
