Where to find Dried Birdseye Chili in Chicago

nikkib99 May 20, 2013 05:55 AM

I've been to a few Asian markets in Chinatown and broadway/argyle area, but can't seem to find this.

I'm looking for dried Bird's eye chili - preferably in a large quantity. A lot of Asian markets have the Chinese chili peppers that are about 2-4" long, but these are not as hot as Bird's eye.

Does anyone know where I can get these?

Mods: please update title to bird's eye chili. Thx

      Penzey's Spices. They've got them.

Thanks - did not think of Penzeys. I'll check out spice house and f&o, but I have a feeling their prices could be outrageous.

        Love Chinatown prices.

You might want to try African markets.

Much easier to find a Penzey's than an African market.....

Old World Market is an African Market on Broadway

              Makola African Supermarket on Wilson

You may also want to check out Roger's Park Fruit Market

Thx. I go to old world a lot but don't recall seeing it. Would check them out on Friday.
I love old world - great products, nice ppl, funky smell, but oh we'll.
