Arizona restaurant week started yesterday
We enjoyed crab-stuffed piquillo peppers, cheese-filled dates wrapped in bacon, wonderful beef tenderloin, and a killer pistachio ice cream sitting in a bath of warm plantain liquor at Tapas Papas Frita. It was accompanied by a glass of red or white sangria and warm bread with a garlic aioli dipping sauce. I couldn't help but dredge my fries in the aioli. Despite all my research for ARW, we sometimes miss the mark. TPF was a big success. The service was just right. Our server would check in after the first couple of bites of each dish to make sure everything was as it should be; and if it wasn't (they gave me a roasted red pepper instead of the crab-filled piquillos), it was quickly fixed.
