Best Fried Rice in the Cities?

Looking for places in the cities that have very good fried rice. I'm from St. Paul, but it doesn't matter where in the cities though. I haven't found any places with great fried rice since I have moved to MN.

  1. Honestly. I've been eating at Trieu Chau for 8 years and I've liked everything that has come out of their kitchen including their (Best in Ciites imo) Pho to Chinese-American dishes like fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. Everything they put out is really, really tasty. They don't have a website so I'll just leave their Yelp page.

That place is right down the street from me and I have never tried it. I will this week. Thanks for the info.

FYI, they have a cash-only policy for purchases under $10. Enjoy.

    2. Pork Fried Rice at Hong Kong Kitchen in Fridley is my favorite. It's in Holly Center at intersection of University and Mississippi.

Db, I think you and I have raved about that pork fried rice before. You beat me to the thread reply.

I've only had HK once, at your recommendation (one or both of you) and I didn't really care for it. The rice was dry and hard, making the whole dish almost inedible. I know the rice wasn't going to be super moist, but it was physically difficult to eat the stuff because of how dry it was.

I might give them another chance...we'll see.

      2. Can't say that ANY restaurant in the Twin Cities has good fried rice. Best is probably the salted fish version at Mandarin Kitchen.

I'd stay away from ordering fried rice at Vietnamese restaurants - just asking for pale imitations. Just like I wouldn't order lemon grass dishes in Chinese ones.

        1. Que Viet - Special Fried Rice. As good as it is the egg rolls are even better. Make the trek, it's worth it.

            where is it?

I think there are two - I've always gone to the one in NE MPLS (2211 Johnson St NE).
I do enjoy their egg rolls tremendously and the fried rice is pretty good.

I've always been partial to Que Viet as well.

Brooklyn Park location is on Brooklynd Blvd just a few blocks north of Brookdale.

Good call on Que Viet. Their shrimp fried rice is great, so is the pork. And so are the egg rolls. I've only been to the location in NE, FWIW.
