Cinco de Mayo Grocer Tamales

  • 5

I have a serious crush on the green chicken tamales that Cinco de Mayo sells. Finally checked it out - having to navigate god-awful construction and road closure - and I will be back. I tried the fresh tortillas - good. The beans- same. Same, same for the chicken verde, but the tamales. OHMYGOD. And they are...$2.00. And huge. And the red pork ones are very good also. Did I say $2? I almost feel guilty.
Try them. Go down the alley and park next door - they are hurting for business with construction. You will NOT be disappointed.
38th and Nicollet. They also have a good bakery -the churros were excellent and an interesting meat market.

  1. 3733 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN...... I tried to find it this AM. This is the actual address. You will not see it from 38th unless you want to hit the car in front of you. Please everyone give the addresses. Thanks

I apologize for forgetting the address. You are correct, it is difficult to see from the intersection of 38th and Nicollet. There is a parking lot on the south side of the building - but it may be inaccessible due to construction. There is parking behind the building on the corner - next door - use the alley east of the intersection.

Went back last week. The Chicken Tamales are worth the trek. Go there and help keep them in business.

Thanks and whew, I am glad the 2nd trip was worth it. They are HUGE and a great deal.

    2. I have been a fan of their fantastic chicken tamales for a while now, but yesterday I tried the shredded pork. The flavor was fantastic. Now I want to try everything they have. It is definitely worth the trouble to get there.
