How to make an ombré cake?

I really want to make an ombré cake, but I only have two cake pans and I don't want to buy any more. At least four layers, how can I do that without all the colors smudging together? Thanks!

  1. Several batches. Bake two at a time. Your oven can't hold much more at once anyway.

    1. If you were intent upon baking them all at the same time, you could line your cake pans with heavy foil to "fake pans."

      But if you're buying foil, might as well hit the Thrift Stores for cake pans. Or disposable foil/aluminium ones.
