Would love to get suggestions for a great, laid-back dinner on a Friday night in DC without reservations. We can go early...

How much do you want to spend? What kind of cuisine are you interested in? Where in DC will you be? Have you got a car or will you be using metro?

avoid Penn Quarter and downtown in general (very noisy and crowded on a Friday). beyond that we need answers to Hobbert's questions.

Try the bar/lounge area at Rasika West End.

I was able to walk-in and get an outdoor table at Boqueria this past Friday. It was a 20 minute wait but we just got a drink at the bar before hand. Really good food and definitely laid-back and tasty.

Another option would be Hank's Oyster Bar. If you call before you head over they will put you on the list.

Other ideas: L'Enfant Cafe, Bistro D'Oc, or Casa Oaxaca.

I really like Boqueria and Hanks too. We have walked in to both early-ish (we have been early or to brunch/lunch everywhere so far, we have a 3 year old and have only just been hooked up with a good babysitter!)

I would also add Cafe St Ex on 14th (if that's near) I really like it in there and it's usually possible to get last-minute bookings or walk-ins.
