Brasserie on 53rd
As it happens, I was there Wednesday night for dinner. It's not the place to go to be wowed or surprised, but they do what they do very well. I had beet salad with goat cheese, steak frites; companion had the soup (parsnip I think) and grilled tuna. Shared a tarte tatin for dessert. All excellent.
Thought the service was fine -- pacing was good, and our waiter kept a close eye on us without hovering.
I like the room -- bright, modern and lively.
