Premade Dim Sum in restaurants?

I have seen a few wholesale dimsum stores, selling premade items. Does anyone know which restaurants are using them & which make their own? Bonus points if you know which are really clean..I've been reading vancouver restaurant health inspections and found awful stuff in most.

HON's (all locations) offers vegetarian dim sums:

It's not even the shrimp, a lot of 'meatless' dim sum items probably contain some sort of pork product in the form of lard or fine mince

      2. Serving pre-made, frozen stuff is pretty common. Most of the neighbourhood-class dim sum joints use pre-made for at least some of their dishes. Only a few - usually the larger and/or "higher-end" places make their own. (I'm thinking of places like Red Star, Dynasty, Kirin - though Kirin may have a shared commissary, Sea Harbour, Jade, Top Gun, etc). A few smaller ones do it too - eg Good Choice, Golden Paramount, Bing Sheg, etc)

1newyorkguy - have you been to Dynasty Seafood (Broadway)? They have a good vege list - and they make their own dimsum. Also try the Buddha's Feast while you are at it.
