Interesting Restaurants near UBC

Does anyone have information about good places to eat near UBC campus? I'll be staying there for a conference, and will be restricted to public transit while there.

I'm mainly interested in reasonably priced, casual or hole-in-the-wall places, but *not* East or South-East Asian cuisine (no Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean etc). African or South American recommendations would be particularly appreciated.

"African or South American recommendations would be particularly appreciated."

Those are the two cuisines that could be said to be under represented here especially close to UBC.

However Magda's on Fraser is a short 5 minute walk from the corner of 41st & Fraser itself only a 15 minute fast bus ride from UBC (#41).

Nuba isn't a HITW anymore but neither is it expensive and it's on the #99 route

Across the street is Al Basha a true HITW with decent enough food.

I'd like to hop on *that* #41 bus you're on, Sam, cuz no #41 bus will ever get to Fraser St. from UBC in 15 mins. 30 mins is average.
