Anyone know a good cookery day class in South London?
It would be for a retirement gift, someone is leaving after 35 years and we would like to treat him to a nice cookery class. Style of food not too important, but French, Italian or Thai would be possibilities. It would be good to get a recommnedation. I have done a day course with Waitrose which was good, but thier kitchen is oin Finchley and that is a bit far away from where this person lives. Thanks.
Thanks everyone. In the end there was a decision to go for a Thai cookery class in New Malden, chiefLy on grounds of cost as we'd already spent money buying other gifts for the retiree and there was only about £90 left. I looked into Adam Blyth's class but he now teaches via an outfit called Cactus, which are incredibly expensive (£500 for a day class, or "experience" as they prefer to call it). it looked very much aimed at the corporate client. I'll post back on the Thai class after I hear how it went
I know a few people who have done classes at the Jamie Oliver shops and really enjoyed them, though I'm not sure if they do whole-day ones. I think there are fairly basic ones for people without much cooking experience, and then more "exotic" ones for experienced cooks to try a new cuisine. There's one in Clapham.
I gave my mum a voucher for a class at School of Wok in central London, though she hasn't used it yet. Maybe someone else can comment?
The Trinity classes sound brilliant.
