Torn between going to dinner at Il Buco Alimentari vs Perla, thoughts?

prcentauri May 10, 2013 05:30 AM

just looking for some input / feedback. haven't been to either. was planning a nice, not-too-fancy dinner for a party of 5.

I like both but would vote for Perla.

I've been to Perla three times but the online menu seems to have changed since my last visit. Generally, the pastas and mains are strong across the board, especially if you like the rustic style of Babbo and Manzo where chef Michael Toscano used to work. Sides and desserts have been uneven but then I haven't sampled any of their current offerings.

I like Il Buco Alimentari as well but some of their dishes, like the spaghetti with bottarga, can be a bit polarizing.

My thought is that Perla is better.

That's my dilemma too! Don't mean to hijack your thread but do you think Perla over Dell Anima or L'Arusi too???? Not sure if you considered those as well? Picking an Italian restaurant is a tough decision!!!

          I like Dell'Anima a LOT.

But Perla is on a whole other level.

Of course, you can't actually get INTO Perla.

What do you mean? I have a reservation. And it's quite early into service.

Excellent! You're very lucky. On their website, I don't see anything that isn't either at 5 PM or so or 10:30 PM or so.

i like il buco alimentari but their pastas are generally not good at all. if you order well, you can have a good meal here. nice space too.

havent been to perla due to the wait but apparently you guys seem to like it quite a bit.

dell'anima is the opposite of il buco alimentari...their pastas are amazing but their entrees are pretty lousy.
