Coming down to San Diego to help our USD student celebrate his birthday! I'm looking for a tasty, reasonably priced cake to pick up for the celebration. Haven't seen this thread yet here, but don't want to end up with a grocery store cake. Checked the website at Extraordinary Desserts and that was just ridiculous! Any ideas?

You might check out Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Dunno what their prices are like, however.

Nothing Bundt Cakes are pretty good and reasonably priced. They have small individual bundts as well. Some flavors are better than others.

Good call on the Bundt cakes...the chocolate and lemon are fab!

        Costco is another alternative..
I find that the Extraordinary Desserts are pretty to look at but have no flavor.
Flour Power or European Cake Gallery for their kick ass Swiss Black Forest Cake..

I second European Cake Gallery. They did my wedding cakes 19 years ago. The union didn't last, alas, but the memory of those amazing cakes surely has...

Check out Twiggs. I know people who have had good luck with them.

Twiggs has a Mexican chocolate cake that everyone was drooling over when I brought it for a party.
