VN 'hounds - looking for banh hoi in LA

ns1 May 8, 2013 06:20 PM

Fellow 'hounds - as a followup to my "SGV takeout run thread", I'm looking for banh hoi recs in LA, both dine-in and takeout.

I'm mainly looking for leads in the 818, but Chinatown/626 work as well.

Pho 999 has them with accouterments; not sure if they sell plain. Not sure if they're any good either.
Did not see them @ 99 Ranch
Any other leads?

I get the whole shebang, banh hoi w/ nem + stuff @ nem nuong ninh hoa
Not available @ Square Market.
Any other leads?

    When in doubt, SG superstore:

    Or just email wandering chopsticks.

I know that Vinh Loi Tofu http://www.vinhloitofu.com/ in Reseda has it on their menu

OMG! I love Banh Hoi... it's SO hard to find and yet every vietnamese market sells it...

The best places I've had it is Oki Doki in Costa Mesa, but I haven't been in years and the last time I went they were doing more Japanese than their old model of Viet/Japanese fusion. Sad.

The second best place is at Saigon Dish in Lawndale. I went there for Pho near my office and was FLOORED when I saw they had Bahn Hoi.

There are even few places in Little Saigon that has it. The last place was Vans... they have the Bahn Hoi which comes pre-rolled... Which is still yummy... but not quite as fun!

it's so goddamn ubiquitous in Little Saigon, I'm frustrated by my inability to find it on styrofoam in LA.
