fresh naturally fermented sauerkraut

oldfresser May 8, 2013 03:21 PM

Anyone know of a place in NYC area, Brooklyn or Queens preferably) that sells unpasteurized sauerkraut? There are plenty of good sources for standard kraut but for health reasons I'm looking for the other. Thanks.

Not sure it's unpasteurized, but there's a pickle vendor at SmorgasBurg who's got fresh 'kraut...and a guy at the Fifth Avenue (Park Slope @ 4th Street) Farmer's market on Sundays.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try Clinton Hill but if that's not the thing, it's off to the old neighborhood in Wmsburg.

You can also get fresh sauerkraut at Clinton Hill Pickles on Classon and Dekalb.

Thanks much. Didn't realize this was the "new" Guss's. Plus, pretty convenient location.

          Hi oldfresser,

Morscher's pork store in Ridgewood makes their own sauerkraut in-house.
