Next Door [Berkeley]

Looks like a new restaurant opened up in the old Addie's Pizza place on adeline in Berkeley. They're billed as serving "comfort food."

"The plan is family- and vegetarian-friendly global comfort food, with dishes like fried chicken, eggplant parmesan, ropa vieja, and Persian chicken wings, and the 83-seat spot should open May 1"

  1. Is it actually open? I drove by yesterday and it looked like they were still working on the space.

I think so. East Bay Dish had a review yesterday.

    2. went back earlier in the week. now only open evenings, 5 on.

      1. This is ex SF Housing Authority directors new place..

        1. I had brunch there yesterday. The fried chicken and waffles was delightful. The waffle was thick, Belgian style, but as light as air, served with real maple syrup and fresh berries. I think the menu said chicken thighs, but I was served a breast and a leg, juicy, tossed in a spicy flour (rather than battered or breaded). A scrambled egg was included.

The place was empty at noon. I hope they can get more business for brunch/lunch (the Vault, a block away, was packed).

They should put an OPEN sign in the window. The place has been empty for a while and driving by it's never clear to me when they're open.

          2. Closed and replaced by 44, which according to Berkeleyside relocated from Hercules.
