A pleasant lunch in Orvieto
Orvieto is an easy day trip by rail from Rome. It has history, architecture and tourists. I like it. We were there on a Wednesday last month and, as everyone knows but me, all the fancy restaurants are closed that day. Wednesday apparantly is the new Monday.
To make a long short, my wife suggested the Ristorante Piazza del Popolo. Thin-sliced ham and some smoked duck for starters. My boar sausage with apple over lentils was very good. Deb's pasta with boar ragu was a keeper. The local red was a tasty bargain.
Giustino runs the front and the back of this little place as he sees fit. He runs a good shop.
